When on battery, severe CPU throttling kicks in at 35% charge: how to change ?

Brand new Spro7, Firmware up-to-date.

I noticed drastic CPU throttling when battery charge level reaches 35%: CPU tops at about 0.5 GHz and setting the power slide to "Best Performance" doesn't change that.

I found no setting that would allow to change this excessively conservative threshold to something more reasonable like 12 or 15% (my Battery Saver level is set at 15%, but it has obviously no impact on this).

Is this hard-coded in the firmware ?

Any ideas ?

    That's just sad...

    My SP7 is under support, so logged a case with MS support. About 2 hrs of chat, the engineer on the laptop via logmein. Could see the device throttling at 35%. He asked when things started, i stated around Dec last year after the firmware update. He suggested waiting to see if the Windows 10 2004 May update “fixes” the issue. Although he kept saying also to get the device replaced under support (although i’ve read i’d receive a refurb unit) - i’m more or less convinced a replacement unit would either come with the borked updates or apply them soon after coming online - net result is the same - likely back to the same situation. Anyone else contacted support?

    Same problem... Even though everything is up-to-date.

    At lower battery levels, everything feels sluggish even when the performance slider is turned to 'best performance'.

    This otherwise very capable Surface Pro 7 i5/8G turns into a laggy messs where the CPU will max at 1GHz at normal temperatures. it even stutters heavily when scrolling webpages like youtube.

    This problem dates from December and it still isn't fixed? This is truly unacceptable...

    We should somehow get this problem to their attention.

    Same issue here. I thought this was a temperature issue but now realise its when battery gets around the 30% mark. Could really do with a solution to this. When your on battery that last % is unusable.

    I have the same issue, I had thought initially that it was my imagination - but on battery, the surface pro 7 i5 throttles quite badly and sits at 0.5Ghz and even basic tasks are just sluggish. It's good to read it's not just me and that its potentially not a hardware issue. 

    Here's hoping this gets fixed soon.
