I've noticed that if you swap in registry csenabled from 1 to 0 and back only for the next time that the surface will be turned on this problem will disappear.
it happened to me the two times that I've done that... it's very strange

I have read many posts and made many attempts to correct this problem without any success.
I was traveling for 3 months and when I returned the battery was completely dead.
Also, each night since my return, the battery drains as much as 12% overnight while shutdown.
I have all MS updates but the problem continues.
Please advise.

I have this exact problem right now, except that my warranty ended on 27th December 2018 and they're expecting me to pay for servicing because of this problem that has always been there for 5 months but gave them the benefit of the doubt because this was the 4th surface pro 4 that i have received ( due to separate problems such as heavy battery drain, defective screen, and flickering screen).
Did someone make manual replacement of the battery and succeed to solve the problem?
I had an SP4 that developed the same battery drain issues. Would select shutdown and battery would drain about 20% - 30% per day. I did several wipes/reinstalls all the troubleshooting. Luckily I was still covered by my Complete warranty and was able to swap it out for a refurb SP4 and it's completely fixed. Will now drain maybe 1-2% per day.
It absolutely is a hardware issue, if you have the opportunity to get it replaced under warranty definitely do it.
I'm having the same issue. The battery just cannot last through the week even it's completely shut down. This is non issue before but I realize this happened since middle of 2018. I hope Microsoft will rectify this issue ASAP.
