Battery Drains While Shutdown

I have read many posts and made many attempts to correct this problem without any success.

I was traveling for 3 months and when I returned the battery was completely dead.

Also, each night since my return, the battery drains as much as 12% overnight while shutdown.

I have all MS updates but the problem continues.

Please advise.

    This problem can`t be solve.

    Microsoft replace my device and now it seems to be working fine without any draining.

    shutdown  /p just shutsdown the pc and any apps without warning, i cant see how that will help resolve the battery draining when the surface should be turned off.

    Use this command to shutdown the computer:

    shutdown /p

    I have the same problem. Battery is draining so fast.

    SP4 is 2 years and 9 months old.

    Now I've switched to a Lenovo Thinkpad 580, which is solid and reliable.

    I will never buy a Microsoft device again :-(
