Bluetooth Mouse lag

Recently bought the Surface Pro 128GB.

Having been annoyed by the temperament of the touchpad, I bought a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse.

What I've found is that, when copying data over a network, the bluetooth mouse begins to lag.

Using the touchpad/pen is unaffected.

Makes me wonder whether the Wireless NIC and Bluetooth Module are using the same bus and/or whether this is a known issue.

    Alexi, again this will not alleviate any issues. You are misinterpreting where the bandwidth congestion is, which is on the physical hardware side. Simply "picking another channel" will not fix this issue, nor will is stop Bluetooth from selecting another channel either. Furthermore, 802.11a is not really prevalent anymore, you would be hard pressed to find an 802.11a wireless access point. Using an 802.11n on the 5.0GHz band has been shown to stop the problem. Here is a schematic of the Marvell 88W8787 chip that is included in the surface:

    As you can clearly see, the 2.4GHz antenna is shared by the WLAN and the Bluetooth, whereas the 5.0GHz antenna is separate from the 2.4GHz antenna.

    HI, I have same issue with Surface pro 128GB and Microsoft wedge mouse. It happen only uploading files over wireless G but not when downloading.

    I have restored my surface, installed all Windows update and installed Microsoft mouse and keyboard center software.

    That's what I'm saying the whole time. They are sharing the same bandwidth. If you choose a bandwidth which does not collides with Bluetooth, the problem might be solved.

    Bluetooth operates on 2.40 to 2.48 GHz ... 802.11g also operates on 2.4 GHz to 2.48 GHz. That makes it not a problem of the Surface. Its a general problem.

    The channels divides the WLAN bandwidth in multiple ranges. Every channel has about a range of 5 MHz. The Bluetooth device will not keep on changing or hoping the frequencies. It will not use the complete range of 80 MHz. So if you chose another channel which frequency range happens not used by your Bluetooth device, you might get rid of the lags. Start with channel 12 and 13.

    802.11a and h has something about 5Ghz. It could be a better alternative.

    Regardless, this issue only happens on a Microsoft Surface device with a Bluetooth mouse, when connected to a 801.11g wireless network. This does not appear to occur if you are using 802.11n. The 802.11g antenna and the Bluetooth antenna share the same bandwidth, and therefor when you try to transfer any size of data across the wireless network, it saturates the bus and the Bluetooth mouse movement becomes practically unusable. As this is a hardware design flaw, changing the "fraking" wireless channel will not fix the situation...

    FYI, that isn't even a Bluetooth mouse, is runs on RF.

    for Business...

    Its also coupled via Bluetooth.
