Surface Pro 2017 touchpad mouse freezing

I've got a new Surface Pro 2017 and today the mouse pointer being driven by the touchpad has started freezing for 1-2 seconds.

All the latest updates are installed.

I've removed the mouse from device manager and then ran Scan for new Hardware.

I've removed and re-installed the lastest Surface firmware package.

But it still does it, however it only seems to happen when the device is on power. It works fine on battery.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Greg

Well thanks everyone for your input on this.  It feels like a self help group that is yet to stumble on the answer to the meaning of life!

I’ve literally tried everything. All to no avail. The latest observation is that when my work is being saved up to the cloud (un plugged and not on charge as well as vice versa note) the cursor freezes.

so there we have it. The MS Surface Pro has a MAJOR fault that MS obviously know about otherwise why would they remain so stubbornly silent on the subject.

Im not happy. This kit is not old. It is relatively expensive and i now have to go buy a completely different lap top - not a MS I can assure you. Shame on you MS.

    Hi,

I have now had the Surface, type cover, and charger all replaced.  New version of Windows, all updates installed, all drivers up to date, ran the SDT, checked the mouse settings, cleaned the type cover connectors, etc etc etc.

Yet STILL when I am plugged in the cursor freezes when using the touch pad.

Very frustrating.  I'm starting to think there is a fundamental defect with the Surface.

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

Just to clarify, did the issue occur only after a recent update? Does your device gets hot when the issue happens?

Let us know so we can assist you further.

    • Any recent changes made prior to the issue?

    >> Windows update installed the latest firmware yesterday.

    • Can you provide us the latest Windows Update that is installed on your device? To check on this, Go to Settings> Update and Security> View installed update history.
    • Have you tried performing force a shut down and restart your Surface?

    >> I don't need to do a force shut down, I've done a normal restart twice now.
