Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

I purchased SP4 device a few months ago and it was working fine for a month. Then I noticed that when the CPU is at its max, the screen flickers a bit. Investigating further revealed that it flickers even if it is setting idle. It does not flicker if at least one of the following thing is done:

  1. A video being played in browser 
  2. If I keep the touch screen busy by either taping it or keeping a finger on it
  3. If I use the touchpad
  4. If keyboard is used for typing

This resulted in making the device completely unusable while reading articles or ebooks. I am a developer, most of the time I have to read the code and to do that, I have to constantly keep a finger on the touch pad or the screen. I contacted surface support in October and November and was told that the developers are working on the patch. Looking at the updates the developers are pushing since then, I don't think anyone is even aware of the problem there.

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem (and the fix) and if not, what's the procedure for the refund? I will rather go for a mac then sacrificing $2000+ for a dancing screen.

    I can agree with you same opinion. But I can also confirm to you that they don't care to lose their customers because if they care non of the team working there will agree to replace it with refurbish one. And they should give a new advance category same Samsung co. Did during the problem of note 7 . 

    But MS stretching the time to finish the 3 years. For all. So it will be illegal to change it as they declared. 

    Don't waste your time . And keep it or discard it and shift all your data to other laptop and go on normally.  To forget this bad experience with MSpro4

    Hi

    I agree creating the best products and best services is the Microsoft responsibility if they want to keep their costumers happy and satisfy.

    But, with Surface Pro4, the screen flickering problem is not resolved.  No one, who has replaced its Surface pro4, like me, is not satisfied because after several months the screen is shaking again. 

    The Microsoft must replace our surface Pro4 by the product without such problem, not with a problematic Surface Pro4. If they continue like that, they will lose a lot of their costumers.

    Hi, I am an Surface Pro user from mainland China, and my screen has been flickering during last two months. I have contacted local Microsoft support and upgraded firmware as per instruction. However, it turned out to be not effective to fix the problems, which is in line with your description as above. While after viewing above message, I have asked the local Microsoft support whether I am eligible to exchange my Surface Pro to a new one. However, I was told that they can only repair it but not exchange it to a new one. I am just wondering why the service standard in China is different to your email and also the policy you applied to other countries. Finally, my Surface Pro is still within the warranty, and I am perfectly eligible to have it repaired without charge, and according to your email, I should be able to exchange a new one. I am thinking if it is your policy to exchange the defected laptops, you should treat your global customer fairly and there shouldn't be exception for Chinese customers.

    I look forward to your early feedback so I can move forward and get my laptop problem fixed.

    Hi Bryan,

    I'm from Brunei, and i have the same problem with my surface pro 4 where it flicker and now it cannot be used because the screen went all black. i bought it last year January 2016 and last year around October 2017, it cannot be used again. the screen was flickering so bad that i couldn't even read any text on my surface. Can you help me with this? Thanks.
