Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

I purchased SP4 device a few months ago and it was working fine for a month. Then I noticed that when the CPU is at its max, the screen flickers a bit. Investigating further revealed that it flickers even if it is setting idle. It does not flicker if at least one of the following thing is done:

  1. A video being played in browser 
  2. If I keep the touch screen busy by either taping it or keeping a finger on it
  3. If I use the touchpad
  4. If keyboard is used for typing

This resulted in making the device completely unusable while reading articles or ebooks. I am a developer, most of the time I have to read the code and to do that, I have to constantly keep a finger on the touch pad or the screen. I contacted surface support in October and November and was told that the developers are working on the patch. Looking at the updates the developers are pushing since then, I don't think anyone is even aware of the problem there.

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem (and the fix) and if not, what's the procedure for the refund? I will rather go for a mac then sacrificing $2000+ for a dancing screen.

    I'm totally agreedwith you. For my case I bought it from Kuwait. And afterburner got the same problem they said we are not providing surface service in your country.  Send it to another country on my own expense. I'm so disappointed and I was wondering from the reply of MS in Dubai.  

    I decided to just break the device and sell the accessories to any shop.  Now I will be back to HP after 2 years from using MS product. It was really big mistake . And I'm advising all to do not go with it . Till they become professional in dealing with their customers.

    I purchased my Surface Pro in 2016, and starting having this problem in 2017.  I was delighted that Microsoft was offering a replacement, but before I could sent it off to a friend in the US, it dropped and the screen cracked...so sending it back is now out of the question. I have realized that if I don't watch video on it, there is no flickering.  I have that I can't watch video on it,  but at least I still get to use it. Me? I won't be buying another surface product until there is a model that's been on the market for more that tw years without a problem. I spend way to much money on a device I can't use in full.

    Hi Bryan,

    I'm from Brunei, and i have the same problem with my surface pro 4 where it flicker and now it cannot be used because the screen went all black. i bought it last year January 2016 and last year around October 2017, it cannot be used again. the screen was flickering so bad that i couldn't even read any text on my surface. Can you help me with this? Thanks.
