Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

I purchased SP4 device a few months ago and it was working fine for a month. Then I noticed that when the CPU is at its max, the screen flickers a bit. Investigating further revealed that it flickers even if it is setting idle. It does not flicker if at least one of the following thing is done:

  1. A video being played in browser 
  2. If I keep the touch screen busy by either taping it or keeping a finger on it
  3. If I use the touchpad
  4. If keyboard is used for typing

This resulted in making the device completely unusable while reading articles or ebooks. I am a developer, most of the time I have to read the code and to do that, I have to constantly keep a finger on the touch pad or the screen. I contacted surface support in October and November and was told that the developers are working on the patch. Looking at the updates the developers are pushing since then, I don't think anyone is even aware of the problem there.

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem (and the fix) and if not, what's the procedure for the refund? I will rather go for a mac then sacrificing $2000+ for a dancing screen.

    Hi,

    I bought my SF4 from china 2years age, and i have the flickering screen issue and it was fixed five months ago, but the problem came back.  When I phoned MICROSOFT "China" today, the said that the new replacement offer is not for China customers . is that right?

    yes it is pretty messed up. i also use external monitor. i have been in communication with the microsoft, but no real solution really. they offered a refurbished surface pro???? for me, it is a clear indication that they really dont care about the problem? and they just want more sales. how can u offered the same product whrn u know that the product is a failed, and they do not even know what happen with the screen. ridiculuos to the max

    I noticed they said this and posted it. I work with all sorts of server infrastructure and follow this because it's my sp4 that can only be used with an external monitor as the screen is pretty messed up really.

    We have no trust in any SF4. Yes, keep replacing for three years? But, dont you know that each time we send in our SF4, how much uninstalling, file cleaning we need to do? "a small percentage of Surface Pro 4 devices"? Sorry, many of us did not complain out loud, nor send our SF4 to MS for help, b/c we read on MS community and found no "solution" helps (if this is a heat related issue). MS did not explain WHY the flickering and WHAT MS did to prevent it from happening!
