Surface Pro 7 randomly freezes while using the Zoom app

Brand new surface pro for about 2 weeks and I've experienced some random freezes while using the Zoom teaching app. For some reason, each time this happens the audio continues to work but nothing on the surface screen or keyboard is responsive and I'm forced to shutdown and restart each time. Support recommended that I run a recovery tool but that didn't do anything to fix my problem. Does this sound like more of a Zoom problem or a surface problem?

Anyone else have a similar issue and fixed it?

    Hi MattC12

I have had this same thing happen with both Zoom and Teams. No solutions so far, but I don't think it's isolated to Zoom.

I am having the same issue.  Teaching and need the whiteboard and/or share screen to write on.  I can tell when it is about to go out because the writing goes from "smooth" to very "sketchy."  I then look at the images and everyone is "frozen" but the can hear me!  Everything is frozen and I have to hold down the power button to shut everything down.  Once it restarts and I get back to everyone, it may only work for a moment and then repeats the error and process.  I do notice that the computer is very warm when this happens.  I also make sure that I only have Zoom running, the gmail google docs that holds the assignments, and the downloaded worksheet being used for the lesson.

I bought my Pro 7 in April and it has an Intel processor:  Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1035G4 CPU @ 1.10GHz  1.50 GHz

So switching it out due to the AMD vs Intel processor doesn't seem like a fix for me.  Any suggestions?

After 3 months I finally heard back from Zoom Tech Support!

    Here is what they said:

Thank you for the provided information. I would be glad to shed some feedback on the issue you are seeing. From the provided meeting ID, the reason that the device is crashing is due to CPU utilization and this can be viewed from the public Dashboard feature on Zoom.us. Zoom is averaging around 15% CPU utilization and your device is running above 70-80% nearly the entire meeting and even maxes at 100% several times in which the crash occurs. I would advise you to see what other resources are utilizing your CPU usage causing it to max out your CPU. Again, if you would like to CC a Zoom administrator on your account, they can also confirm these findings on the Zoom dashboard and I would be happy to meet if you would like. Please let me know how else I may help you.
