cameras are not working on my Surface PRO X device. [Answered]

Error code 0xA00F4271<MediaCaptureFailedEvent> (0x80004005).

I've run trough the Get Help App on my device but after following all the steps camera is still not running.

Any help?

We are aware that customers using Surface Pro X were having issues using the built-in cameras and we have resolved this issue with a driver update.   Please go to Windows Update to install the new driver named Microsoft Corporation – System Hardware Update – 5/26/2023.

    Fine the workround 'works', but anybody who follows Microsoft's advise to reset to 21st May will have the same problem again in a couple of days.

    May I suggest the alternative workround of manually setting the date to 23rd April gives Microsoft a month to sort the problem out properly.

    As my partner has been a software problem manager with a major UK bank for more than 20 years, he suggested that it sounds like a licence/certificate has runout and Microsoft just need to renew the relevant certificates and issue a patch asap.

    Here is a workaround that was suggested to me by the microsoft support:

    Go to setting> Time and language> Date and time > toggle off Set time automatically toggle, then set the date and time manually, click on change and set it to May 21st, 2023.

    Seems like we will have to reset the date until the problem is fixed.
