i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

Split from this thread.

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    About 8 AM, it said 98% charged. When unplugged it displayed 5 hours and 38 minutes. When I put it in the briefcase and opened it in the office, it was hot, The battery had drained 50% and displayed something like 2 hours +. When I closed it and put it on my desk, it had cooled down.

    In the sleep study, it shows, I had only 5% change. However, the change rate is 1408 mW. Can somebody explain? Thanks.

    Further update, put it to sleep for one hour and the drain rate was 139mW. Completely fixed. 

    Edit:

    How do you run this test? After the update my sp4 battery decreased from 84% to 73% in 22min and the FAN came on due to Heat. I would appreciate your help to know how to diagnose whats causing the drain?
