Remote Desktop Connetion displays Very Small Icons and Jump Lists on Remote Machine

On my remote machine, the desktop icons, icon titles, taskbar and jump lists are puny, very difficult to read the small font size.

I've tried all of the various display/sizing options in my Surface's control panel, and also the display setting tab in Remote Desktop Connection, and have not found any comnbination that works well on the remote and Surface Pro 3. (Also, the sizing options are not so convenient anyway since a sign out is generally needed.)

 I've never had this problem and regularly use RDP on various machines. Are there others with RDP display issues?

    HI

    we use RoyalTS on all our devices, do you use it on the Surface Pro? I just got a SP4 and using RoyalTS, connecting to Win Server 2003/2008/2008 R2 the icons are tiny and unusable.. its fine with Win 2012/R2 just not prior..

    How did you get it to work?

    Thank you for this post! I just got a Surface Pro 4 today and RDC is the lifeline of my work. When I saw how tiny the remote desktop is, I went nuts! You saved me from sending this machine back!

    Additional information though:

    Surface Pro owners may be required to install .network framework 2.0. It will take you to the download site and things are going to be smooth sailing after.

    When you run the RDC manager the first time, even if you only have need or use 1 RDC, just click on New, type in group name. Right click on the new group name, Add Server and other info on the first window. Click on the display settings tab and uncheck "Inherit from Parent".

    I was wondering where I could find the window from the screenshot that was provided earlier and I played around with the settings. Anyway, I hope this helps the other noobs like me.

    To install .net 2.0: Control Panel, Programs and Features, Turn Windows Features On or Off. Select the first item.

    I've never had a problem with any of the framework versions.

    With RDCM 2.2, make sure you choose full screen under the display tab when adding a remote "server".

    I just purchased a surface pro 4 and did all the updates for the latest and greatest windows 10 version and am dealing with this issue.  my remote desktop is  on a windows server 2008 R2.  Super tiny on the SP4.  I will try your shortcut above but when I try and launch the remote desktop 2.2 in your link it is telling me I need to install .net framework 2.0.

    The .net framework site has a lot of versions and 2.0 looks relatively old with a lot of compatability updates and service packs.  Can you confirm which .et framework I need to load and whether it will cause issues with my nice clean new windows 10:)  Is it something I can uninstall if it starts causing other issues?

    The utility RD Tabs also works very well to solve the RDP scaling issue.
