surface book battery drain while shut down

I have been noticing that when I shutdown my surface book, when I power it on the next day the battery has drained some. If I leave it off for a couple of days it will drain down from 100% to around 85% or lower.

I disabled fast startup... and then just decided to disable hibernation altogether. That didn't help.

I have windows hello disabled, but that shouldn't matter anyway since I'm shutting it down, not sleeping.

Some searching and I found a general windows 10 issue with the "Intel Management Engine Interface" driver. Some say that v11 can cause this issue. One solution that I have seen suggested is to go into device manager and in the power management tab for this device uncheck the option that allows windows to power it down to save power. I tried that and it didn't help.

Others have suggested downgrading the driver from v11 to v9 or v10, but I don't know where to get v9 or v10 of this driver that is compatible with the surface book. Anyone know if one of the downloads on Intel's site would be compatible?

So, has anyone else noticed this issue and know of a fix?

    Sometime ago when I returned from long holidays, I found that the battery of my car had drained and needed recharging before it could turn the ignition.  According to my car manual - and it is an expensive car - It is normal to have battery drain when the car is not in use. You would need to disconnect the cables from the battery to eliminate drain and there is a procedure for this.  So if this is acceptable for a car, why not for a laptop?  Please stop wining about insignificant things. SB has much more serious problems with blue screens when you undock, dock, hibernate etc.

    Clearly you don't understand the significant differences in the technology between car batteries/systems and electronic devices such as the SB and SP4.

    4% over 15 hours is not unreasonable, batteries lose charge over time regardless of load. MS cannot defy physics.

    I'm on Hibernate now.  Last night I took my SB, i7, 16GB, 512GB, off the charger.  It was at 100%, Bat 1: 100%, Bat 2: 100%.

    This morning I'm at 99%.  Bat 1: 99%, Bat 2: 97%.

    I've got Li-ion batteries on dozens of different devices.  None of them stay at 100% when the device is turned off.  My spare Li-ion camera batteries always have to be topped up if I want them at 100% before going out to shoot.  I'm good with my SB batteries.

    I'm quite content with Hibernate as an alternative until the January "Fix" comes.

    I finally tried the shut down study. My i7/16GB lost 4% overall (100-96%) in 15 hours shut down, a few percent from each battery. Personally this amount is not anything for me to be upset about. If it were 10-20% overnight, I would be.

    You shut your SB down 100% correct?  And from a full POWER OFF, you lost battery.

    Because you only lost 4% in 15 hours that makes this ok? 

    Not for me.

    When I shut OFF the SB, that means ZERO power is being used, thus the word OFF.

    What is really frustrating is that MS cannot even get the LITTLE most BASIC things right.  When I want to shut off the SB, I expect that I will not have any drain AT ALL.  ZERO. 

    I mean, come on MS, are you trying to be a serious player in this arena or was this just a money grab to try and show Apple you can make good looking hardware too? 

    If this is not resolved in 30 days, there is zero change I am recommending this device for the 22 people that I need to make a decision on within my company.  And I am SMALL compared to what they might have been able to grab.
