I have been noticing that when I shutdown my surface book, when I power it on the next day the battery has drained some. If I leave it off for a couple of days it will drain down from 100% to around 85% or lower.
I disabled fast startup... and then just decided to disable hibernation altogether. That didn't help.
I have windows hello disabled, but that shouldn't matter anyway since I'm shutting it down, not sleeping.
Some searching and I found a general windows 10 issue with the "Intel Management Engine Interface" driver. Some say that v11 can cause this issue. One solution that I have seen suggested is to go into device manager and in the power management tab for this device uncheck the option that allows windows to power it down to save power. I tried that and it didn't help.
Others have suggested downgrading the driver from v11 to v9 or v10, but I don't know where to get v9 or v10 of this driver that is compatible with the surface book. Anyone know if one of the downloads on Intel's site would be compatible?
So, has anyone else noticed this issue and know of a fix?

Thanks for this, and this is one of my concerns. All official Microsoft responses has only been on "standby/sleep" battery drain. And nothing on the shutdown battery drain. If what BBold75 says is true, that there are "many" others in the same boat, then I feel this deserves some sort of recognition from Microsoft as well.
Personally I am exchanging my device today for a new one and will see if this is also persistent on the new Surface Book as well.

I don't know if Microsoft is aware that a SB that is totally shut down may also continue drain the battery.
Yes, agreed. Unsure if that is the problem but when completely shut off, many of us are in the same boat as you are. Waiting for January fix.
Yes, many of us are experiencing this same issue, upon completely powering off the unit, regardless of Sleep or Hibernation status. This seems like a 'connected standby' or some other issue. Microsoft says a fix is coming early next year for this (if you can wait.) If you can't, contact them for repair/exchange/return.
I think connected standby is the new sleep function which, correct me if I am wrong, is completely unrelated to a complete shut down. I don't think Microsoft formerly addressed the the shutdown issue, and that is why I decided to make a separate topic for this.
Yep, any tech support I've ever contact (yes, even Apple) like to say that "We've never heard of this before!" I think that's an outright lie, and they are not allowed to say that they have, etc. Microsoft definitely knows about the power management issues and say a fix is coming 'early next year.' If you can't wait, then do a return/exchange/repair through MS.
