Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    The update on 2/17 seemed resolve the sleep problem for me. I put my SP4 to sleep by closing the keyboard cover for an hour, it woke up normally (lock screen came up and required me to key in the password (I set it up that way). No battery drain for this hour.

    When I used Intel 4380 display driver, I always needed to press C-A-D to wake up the screen and key in the password.

    Will observe some more time.

    I installed the Intel 4380 Beta Driver this weekend.

    I can't assure it made the sleep issues go away 100% (I think once the apps were closed and I left them open, not sure though), but definitely it has been an improvement. I have to test it more, but my SP4/i7/16GB is much more responsive, and of course usable right now. I use it with the dock and two screens, and no problems this week. I also use it at the sofa at night, and so far so good (unless for the once doubt of finding the apps closed).

    No fan problems also. Normal use of it, and the device is not specially hot.

    So, I am starting to smile again. Of course I am not fearless, and at nights I say my prayers to the Tech God, but right now things seem to work pretty good.

    I just heard a new firmware update went out yesterday. AS I'm travelling in meetings I haven't tried it but look forward to hearing about how people get on.

    I'm not sure what your sleep setting are, (and I'm no software engineer) but I can tell you what mine are and what my surface is doing.

    In the power settings, I have both the power button and closing the lid set to sleep on both plugged in and on battery.  It is set to hibernate after 30 minutes in the advance power settings.

    If I close the keyboard leave it 10 seconds to go to sleep then open in up, nothing happens

    When I do any of the following; press any key on the keyboard, touch the trackpad or hit the power button,

    The screen springs to life almost immediately

    The red light comes on after about 1 second

    It recognises me and resumes my session after a total elapsed time of about 3 seconds.

    If it has been asleep long enough to hibernate then:

    nothing happens unless I hit the power button.

    The surface logo shows and the spinner goes for about 10 seconds

    The camera turns on, recognises me and resumes my session after a total elapsed time of about 14 seconds.

    In both scenarios I am running on battery.

    I don't know if that helps you or not, but that's my experience after the latest patch and I'm pretty happy with it.
