Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Sadly I don't think this post can be marked as an answer... 

    I had high hopes, which were sadly proven untrue.

    I have applied the update on a vanilla install of Windows 10 (ie: no tempering with intel beta drivers or anything else)

    I only have Chrome and Vmware running, and for kicks and giggles decided to close the lid, and that's, as they say, all she wrote. Upon opening the lid and pressing a key, the keyboard lights up and that's all that happens. 

    Back to square one: replacing sleep with hibernate and living with a 'tablet' that can't seem to sleep properly.... 

    And yes, I know Microsoft will blame Intel for the problem, but at the same time, if anybody can put pressure on Intel to release proper firmware / drivers, I am pretty sure Microsoft can... 

    Come on people, get this silly issue fixed...

    The sleep issue seems to be gone, but the fan is constantly running, even in sleep mode. The computer is super hot right now.

    I was running video driver v4380 prior to the update.  Today's update took it down to v4364.  Like mentioned above, 2 reboots to complete the install.  Went and had dinner, came back...needed to do Ctrl Alt Del to get the screen to come on - like normal.

    Not to be a Nancy Naysayer, but I don't think we're close to a permanent fix yet.

    To be fair these aren't Surface issues as much as Skylake issues.  Intel writes the drivers for the GPU which is then optimized for the Surface - all Skylake systems are suffering from these issues is what I understand.
