Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

It is related to any display change, wether browser or otherwise. For instance, if I leave vmware on, it will fail to wake up. If I leave Plex or Netflix on, it will fail to wake up...

The solution therefore would seem to be closing everything, which kinds of defeats the purpose of the tablet.

Changing settings to hibernate instead of sleep does work, but it does take a bit longer to wake up, and sometimes, wifi will not work.

Other issues with the keyboard may also happen if you remove the keyboard while hibernating and turn the table bake on...

In summary, it is a bit half-baked... which is very sad.

Surface Pro 4 with same sleep problems everyone else has.  The one work-around I've found that works every time is to close ALL browsers before the machine goes to sleep.  Doing this seems to wake it up every time.  I've tried several fixes and none seem to work.

It seems to only wake up if there is no HTTP activity.  I've left IE on the Google screen and it fails to wake up over night.  If I have it on our static Intranet page, it will wake up.  Seems to be related to web content.

Hopefully there is a fix, because it's annoying to have to remember to close the browser each time you walk away.

This happens on my new Surface Pro 4 also, on opening it up, randomly either wakes or not; sometimes pressing the on button will wake it up, sometimes not; long presses sometimes work. It often takes a few minutes of playing around with things before it wakes up.

I am glad others have reported it here.

I suspect MS themselves have this problem each morning (not waking up to go to work or sometimes they do, or it takes a long time to get there) so I am not surprised they have not had enough time to fix it.

Has Microsoft acknowledged this problem at all?
