Surface Pro 7 charger randomly stops working

I bought my Surface Pro 7 about 5 months ago and the charger has been giving me problems for about a month now. It only sometimes charges and it seems to be random when it does. I have to plug and unplug the charger multiple times in multiple outlets around the house in order for the Surface to recognize it, and when it does I have to leave it be because if I move it in any way, it stops charging again. 

Please if anyone has had this problem or has anyone knows what I could do, it would be appreciated. Not sure if the problem is the charger but it is very frustrating since the device is brand new and I haven't even used it for a year.

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry.  

To verify if it's a problem with the charger or the charging port, we suggest the following:

• Try a different Surface Charger and check if the issue is resolve.

• Clean the tip of the charger with a cloth, dirt might be blocking the connection. 

• Try the current charger to a different Surface Device.

We recommend following the steps at What to do if your Surface power supply or charger doesn’t work and requesting service if needed.

    I have three Surface hooked up to our equipment and they all randomly stops charging. We have been using Surfaces since PRO 3's were out. This is the first time this has happened.

    For one I removed the power supply connection on the Surface and reinstalled it. The Surface started charging again.

    For another, I remove the input power without changing anything on the Surface and it started to charge again.

    For another (and it may have correct the problem on that rack) I changed out the cable with the Surface power connection. That rack has been good since.

    The other two are still randomly stopping to charge.

    What can cause the charging to stop working and never start again until power is removed and reapplied?

    I cannot see a single reply from micosoft that suggest a worthwhile remedy or any support what so ever.

    I am totally disappointed and am researching a replacement product - anything but microsoft.

    Oh my fluff, I am so happy I found this thread. I was spending hours trying to figure out why this charging issues are so unpredictable. I pray every single time for it to work…I FEEL SO FRUSTRATED. I have work to do and exams to take. At first I thought it was the battery driver, already tried, worked but then it did not work anymore after window update. Then Battery limit function checked, not use it so it’s not the issue.

    I dont know how I can handle this. Spending money to buy a new laptop is not wise, but keeping this stupid Surface is not wise either.

    It's been an issue for years now. MSFT has refused to address the issue. I've bought numerous replacement power cords and blocks. It's always the same. You might get a few good days, then it's back to the usual unpredictable charging.

    I really regret purchasing a Surface Pro and I doubt I ever do again due to the fact that the issue appears to have persisted through multiple generations and models.

    Get it together Microsoft. Your $200 charger is less dependable than the competition's $50 charger and their charger actually works.
