Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Crackling Sound

I am not the OP, but I have the same problem (if in fact it is a problem).  I hear the crackling sound after I close and set down my Surface.  Doesn't matter whether the power supply is plugged in or not.  I haven't tried any troubleshooting, since I don't know if this sound is a problem.  Is it?

I have the same issue as well. After fall creators update, speakers pop while in sleep mode. Event manager shows the same warning as posted. This is not an isolated incident. Google this and you'll find plenty of people with SP4 complaining about speaker pops while the surface is on standby. Reinstalling drivers did not fix the problem.

Microsoft, what are you doing about this?

I wonder if there is a way for Microsoft to link all of the different people having this problem (I'm one of them) so we can share what we have tried.  This is really annoying!  I have been working with a support agent (who has been very patient with me) for over two weeks on this issue.  We have run all of the diagnostics, uninstalled most of my games, automatically and manually updated drivers, disabled a number of audio features, and the crackle remains.  My most recent test has been to put the volume at zero before putting the unit to sleep; I have not notice a crackle since I did this, but I've been sick and not near the Surface, so I cannot confirm that it is actually working.

I'm sure there are other posts out there.  If I get a chance, I'll try to summarize what problems people are having, and what solutions have been attempted.  Although, I'm pretty sure that is what the Microsoft employees are paid to do...

There might be certain apps/programs that cause the crackling sound. Were you able to determine the area where the noise comes from? Also, you might want to run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, see if it helps. The diagnosis may take 15 minutes or less, but can take an hour or longer and depending on your internet connection speed and the repairs that the tool needs to do to fix the problems.

It's the best way we can hear the crack/pop sound, and ensure that the replacement unit doesn't have the same issue.
