Double tap to left click and drag on trackpad

Hello, I was trying to find a way to click and drag by using the Type Cover 2 trackpad without keeping the left mouse button pressed. Most touchpads nowadays register a rapid double click as a "left click and drag" command and, according to the documentation on Microsoft's website, the Type Cover 2 should as well. However, I tried to use the feature both in Desktop programs and UI apps with no success. How to left click and drag without keeping the trackpad's left mouse button pressed?

Edit: called the customer service, and I was told that the team is aware of the issue and that a fix is planned.

With 8.1 update 1, type/touch cover 2 can now perform double tap-drag. All hail lord Microsoft.

Greetings all,

The “Tap, then tap and slide one finger in any direction"  gesture to perform a “left-click and drag” is not supported in Windows 8.1 for precision touchpads such as Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2.

The “left-click and drag” function can be performed on Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2 by holding the left touchpad button down and then sliding a finger in any direction.

We’ll be updating the inaccurate information in Touchpad: A built-in mouse.

    Thanks for the clarification. Tap and drag works. I thought the missing feature was drag lock (double-tap, drag, reposition finger, drag more, tap to release).

    Hopefully MS will incorporate drag lock as almost every touchpad that I've had since the late 1990s has had this feature.

    The option is automatic, if you have updated to 8.1 update the tap N drag is there.

    1. you should see the magnifying glass top right of the metro screen
    2. If you see similar to the above then tap and drag should work
    3. Failing that you may have a hardware issue on the kboard.

    It initially didn't work for me, however after several times at removing the kboard cleaning the edge connections on the Kboard (with my finger), I now have no isuues

    I just purchased a Surface Pro 2 and installed all of the updates to Windows 8.1 and I still don't see the drag lock option under Control Panel -> Mouse -> Buttons. Am I looking in the correct spot for the drag lock option?

    I have shut down and restarted, removed and re-attached the Surface Type Cover 2, and uninstalled and re-installed the noted Windows 8.1 update.

    Any additional suggestions on how to activate the drag lock option?
