Double tap to left click and drag on trackpad

Hello, I was trying to find a way to click and drag by using the Type Cover 2 trackpad without keeping the left mouse button pressed. Most touchpads nowadays register a rapid double click as a "left click and drag" command and, according to the documentation on Microsoft's website, the Type Cover 2 should as well. However, I tried to use the feature both in Desktop programs and UI apps with no success. How to left click and drag without keeping the trackpad's left mouse button pressed?

Edit: called the customer service, and I was told that the team is aware of the issue and that a fix is planned.

With 8.1 update 1, type/touch cover 2 can now perform double tap-drag. All hail lord Microsoft.

Greetings all,

The “Tap, then tap and slide one finger in any direction"  gesture to perform a “left-click and drag” is not supported in Windows 8.1 for precision touchpads such as Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2.

The “left-click and drag” function can be performed on Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2 by holding the left touchpad button down and then sliding a finger in any direction.

We’ll be updating the inaccurate information in Touchpad: A built-in mouse.

The click and hold on the mouse although slightly annoying isn't too much of an issue for me at least as much as the issues below.

I had the Samsung ser 7 slate win8.1 pro 64GB and previously thought it a good idea to upgrade to the surface2 pro 128GB as the portability of such a system for me is essential ( I live in Dubai and was traveling to the US on a business trip and you cant buy the surface pro 2 in Dubai) Anyway the reason I'm telling you this is that there are 2 major flaws with the surface 2

    1. The mouse lagging and disconnecting whenever it feels like it (strange the keyboard never disconnects?)
    2. The micro SD disconnecting every now and then for no apparent reason. Which means I dare not store sensitive information on the SD card)

I'm using the same wedge mouse / Microsoft keyboard and Micro SD Card  as I did with the slate of which never had these issues at all.

Its got to such an annoying stage now that I'm seriously thinking of going back to the slate and ditching the surface pro 2, although obviously its not something I want to do after shelling out 1,500 U$D.

Come on Microsoft do something about it!

I never said it was the same as the double tap and hold to drag gesture, that's obvious.  And yes, it's absolutely an acceptable workaround.  Since I've enabled ClickLock, I have no issues dragging icons or selecting text using either the Type 2 or Touch 2 covers.  Have not noticed any negative mouse behaviors, and it works similarly enough to the double tap and hold gesture to where it's no longer an issue for me.  I'm fine with continuing to use my v2 covers for the foreseeable future and no longer want to return them.  Maybe with some future firmware or software fixes for the v2 covers, I won't need to continue to use ClickLock.  But for now, the issue is closed for me...

Can anyone tell me why this doesn't work? as a lot of people have said this is a standard action on touch mouse and has been for years. I am sure Microsoft would have programmed for this so they  must have come across an issue with the touch kboard?

Anyway they do need to fix it and quick!
