Surface Pro Pen pressure sensitivity is not working in photoshop CS6.

Wait, Photoshop pressure support doesn't work!?   Photoshop was *the* reason I bought a Surface Pro and was excited about it.  Admittedly I don't need pressure in Photoshop since I mostly use ArtRage for my sketching but not supporting Photoshop pressure is totally unacceptable.

Glad to hear this should be a fairly doable process by either party, but if something isn't at least confirmed within the next 2 weeks there will be a lot of returned product. Judging by comments in a lot of Surface Pro articles, there are a LOT of digital artists that are purchasing this device and that are relying on this device as a productivity tool in getting actual work done. If this isn't fixed soon then that is a deal breaker for many people.

Adobe isn't going to change their software to support new API's that don't support as many input options as the old ones and therefore break all other high end graphics tablets. Adobe uses the Wintab API's which support recognizing pressure, tilt, different tools (Wacom multi-button mouse, airbrush, etc.)  More info on the Wintab API is here: http://www.wacomeng.com/windows/index.html

Since the Suface Pro's hardware is Wacom (or Wacom compatible since it works with other Wacom pens), it should only require a properly written driver. With other Windows tablets that included Wacom hardware, it was often just a matter of going to the Wacom website and installing their "Tablet pc" drivers in order to enable the Wintab API functionality that Adobe CS6 interfaces with. That doesn't work with the Surface Pro, possibly because it's using newer or modified technology. Regardless, Wacom's Wintab compatible drivers don't recognize the Surface Pro hardware (er, I haven't found any version that does.)  Either Microsoft can write a driver update that enables the proper API for Adobe CS6 (and other graphics apps that use Wintab), or Wacom can write an updated driver that recognizes the Surface pro hardware.

tweet to @panos_panay too.  this is absolutely tragic.  I was just going to take a Disney animator to buy a Surface.  He was willing to try it and maybe even switch from Mac, but without pressure in photoshop and illustrator he can't do storyboards, or anything.
