Battery drain with Unregistered device SE?

any update? seriously, the surface is unusable in this state

And before I am faced with yet more requests to refresh the device- we've been through this with EVERY OTHER BUG and its quite clear from posts above that this will not help!

AND NO, WAITING UNTIL SOME PATCH TUESDAY IN SEPTEMBER IS NOT APPROPRIATE EITHER..

GET IT FIXED!

I'm on my second S2. After all the other ridiculous problems (BSOD on refresh, display crashes, drivers not updating, closing type cover causing standby drain etc etc, all of which the users here on this forum helped to solve), I am on here yet again to report yet another problem.

What's the bet that this was somehow introduced from a recent update?

Anyways, I noticed the other day that my standby time was reduced significantly c/w normal:

Battery report today shows my estimated standby time prior to 17th July was regularly 280 hours or better.

From 18th onwards its now 80 hours or less.

Sleep study identifies the "unregistered device SE" active 100% of time during standby - sometimes with a tegra driver controller / marvelstar driver controller and "WU activator" (whatever the **** that is?).

R eliability report shows a windows critical event on the 17th with thevideo hardware error at 20:00pm, timed exactly with the subsequent massive change in standby battery life.

Essentially this confirms the causal relationship between the video hardware error -- unregistered device se --- standby lifeproblems., as I've never had this unregistered device se appear before.

I have always had this 'unknown' device.  My assumption is that it is the Tegra graphics device, because it is missing in your (my) report and it appears in other people's reports.  See http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surf2-surfhardware/noticing-faster-battery-drain-after-february/9197b834-5259-4337-89a0-4b31ce95d960 for example.

As to why it is missing and showing as unknown?  My opinion is it's because the device is in some way faulty and is the reason for display errors that occur (SoD, battery drain ...).  However, I don't think it is now causing battery issues for me any more.  I'm getting 1% in 3hrs during connected standby. 

View your Reliability History and see if there is a Video hardware failure at some point in the past.  I was getting dozens (and dozens) of display errors in the log, which seemed to be waking the S2 all the time.  Check logs.  Now have a replacement - very few display errors now, but still HW error - see below - and the Unregistered device.

Have you a type cover?  That is causing issues for some?

I uninstalled KB2883200 last month and it 'seemed to make a big difference to battery life.  Try it.

This update is replaced by later 'roll-ups', such as April's big update, so you're safe.

I can't uninstall that update, the modify/delete option doesn't pop up. Hop did you do that?

Same. Expected a fix past patch tuesday, but no dice from Microsoft. I jokingly stated that this is the new tactic to get us to buy a new surface by killing our batteries. Constantly draining it till the holding capacity is to low to get through the day.. However I'm starting to feel this is the case seeing as theres still no update, making the connected standby function of this machine useless.
