Try downloading the very latest win10 and install that and see what it does. v1903
Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.
I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all. I rarely take my surface anywhere.
This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

2019-06-02T01:11:43+00:00 This is Paul Docka, again. I took my Surface off its dock, attached the Surface Pro 4 keyboard and turned on the Arc touch blue tooth mouse, booted it, deleted them both in settings/devices, detached them and restarted Win 10. Once Win 10 was completely booted, I reattached the keyboard, it was discovered, and it works. I went through the procedure to attach the Blue tooth mouse, and it's working, too. It must have something to do with the device being on and then attaching the device as opposed to starting with it attached and discovering it during bootup. That's a question for more powerful minds but right now, I've powered up and down in both the dock with the Logitech keyboard and mouse or off with the Surface Pro 4 keyboard and Bluetooth mouse and everything is back to playing well together. Now, if I can figure out how to get my hardwired, Cat5 Lan connection back, I'll be happy.

2019-06-01T23:18:38+00:00 If a clean install is going to work, I believe it will be the latest 1903 version that has the fix in it that will do it.
Try again with the newer OS version. If still no luck, then it will be a hardware issue.

2019-06-01T19:32:49+00:00 I'm still following this discussion. For what it's worth, I just did a clean install of v1809 and my surface keyboard still isn't playing. I really wish I had a known good one to try to further define the problem but you know about wishes. Paul
