Slow Wifi with brand new Surface Book 2!!!

I am so beyond disappointed!! I bought one of the most expensive versions of the Surface Book 2 (i7, 15 inches, 512 GB) and it its wifi connection is only half the speed of my old i5 and i3 laptops!!! IT IS UNACCEPTABLE for the price I paid (almost 3000 dollars for the computer, and if you add accessories and extended warranty, more than 3600!!).

I have tried everything: resetting the network, reinstalling the wireless adapter drivers, resetting windows from scratch...everything!. I have a 100 Mbps connection at home and all my laptops and smartphones get wifi speeds around 45-50 Mbps, but the SB2 gets 20 Mbps and most of the time it does not even get to 10 Mbps.

I have been reading many other testimonies online of people experiencing the same. I feel scammed. 

Not only that, it also seems that there is some kind of incompatibility with the design software I use (Sketchup and Vray). They work flawlessly in my older computers. They crash all the time with the Surface Book 2.

Seriously thinking about returning it. They pull you in with the shiny exterior, but it is a substandard product.

    I believe that mostly people outside North America are impacted by a well known

    • I also think Microsoft was aware of this issue but didn't make any design
      changes in SB2 to mitigate. I'm not saying that this is the cause of the issues
      described here. But I've see that people with dual band wifi with the same SSID
      have found relief by renaming one of the SSID's and connecting to the 5GHz band.
      This helps at home where they have control, but not elsewhere.

    The steps below have resolved the slows on a Surface Book 2, Surface Pro 4 and multiple Lenovo laptops. Please try the steps below to resolve. Following is a link to the article we extracted the steps from.

    Follow the steps in this article to fix the wifi issue: 

    Steps to disable Rsc manually:

    1. Open an Admin Command Prompt window:
    2. Get your network adapter name:

    powershell Get-NetAdapter

    1. Note your adapter's name (mine is: Wi-Fi)
    2. Get your network adapter "Receive segment coalescing" (Rsc) settings:

    powershell Get-NetAdapterRsc

    1. Disable Rsc for your network adapter:

    powershell Disable-NetAdapterRsc -Name ADAPTER_NAME_FROM_BEFORE

    1. Verify Rsc is disabled for ipv4 and ipv6, on your network adapter:

    powershell Get-NetAdapterRsc

    ... Should now show IPv4Enabled False, and IPv6Enabled False, for your network adapter

    1. Re-test your wireless internet connection.

    Hi, I had been having issues with wifi speed. It was fine all these days but yesterday after an update, the speeds fell from 500mbps to 50mbps!! I figured that the surface book 2 after the update was not connecting to 5GHZ network, I am using ORBI mesh routers. I went into wifi adapter properties and changed for it to connect to ONLY 5GHZ. Now the speeds are back up to 500 MBPS. I know that this is not something of a permanent solution as my suface book 2 now will not connect to 2.4ghz router signals at different locations...BUT at least at home i am able to get good speeds. Hope this solution will help to some of you. I am hoping that Microsoft will fix this issue in a firmware update soon.

    I truely hope this is a permanently working fix! I just got my Surfacebook 2 and am disappointed outwright with the wifi speed upon unboxing it! What a shame for first impressions!

    Having the same problem here. Two week old Surface Book 2 (i7, 13"). Two hours on the phone with Microsoft Surface Plus tech support so far. Tech doesn't know what the problem is. He seems to be trying all kinds of stuff, been on the phone for over two hours so far. No fix as of yet. Would love to hear if there is a fix for this.

    I have returned 2 units already due to these issues. I now have the same issues with a third unit, so it is also going back...
