Slow Wifi with brand new Surface Book 2!!!

I am so beyond disappointed!! I bought one of the most expensive versions of the Surface Book 2 (i7, 15 inches, 512 GB) and it its wifi connection is only half the speed of my old i5 and i3 laptops!!! IT IS UNACCEPTABLE for the price I paid (almost 3000 dollars for the computer, and if you add accessories and extended warranty, more than 3600!!).

I have tried everything: resetting the network, reinstalling the wireless adapter drivers, resetting windows from scratch...everything!. I have a 100 Mbps connection at home and all my laptops and smartphones get wifi speeds around 45-50 Mbps, but the SB2 gets 20 Mbps and most of the time it does not even get to 10 Mbps.

I have been reading many other testimonies online of people experiencing the same. I feel scammed. 

Not only that, it also seems that there is some kind of incompatibility with the design software I use (Sketchup and Vray). They work flawlessly in my older computers. They crash all the time with the Surface Book 2.

Seriously thinking about returning it. They pull you in with the shiny exterior, but it is a substandard product.

    I tried this and it works!!!

    I reset my network, and then restart the laptop, connect to the wifi, and the wifi work normally!

    ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GO INTO THE WIFI ADAPTER SETTINGS AND SET IT TO 5GHZ, PROBLEM SOLVED, FAST AS LIGHTNING...

    I had the same problem, really slow WIFI connectivity even when I was only a few meters away from the WIFI router. Additional finding: when opening Control Panel | Network and Internet | View network status and tasks | Connections | <wifi name> | Wi-Fi Status, the connection details show a really slow Connection Speed (like 11 Mbps or 19 Mbps) instead of the normal speeds over >> 100 Mbps.

    I solved the issue by changing the WMM Power Save setting of the Marvell Wi-Fi Adapter: change the value under Device Manager | Network adapters | Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller | Advanced | WMM-PS from Optimized to High Performance. After changing the setting, the Connection Speed went up to 130 Mbps within seconds. And it stayed high.

    Thank you! This solved is a work-around for me.

    I have 200 Mbps connection on a Fiber optic connect, and 5 GHz Wifi network at home. Less capable laptops and also smartphones on the network could download at full 200 Mbps while my new Surface Book 2 13 inch maxed out at ~120 Mbps on the same connection.

    By changing the adapter setting to only use 5 GHz, this problem was solved. I now also get full download speed! 

    Microsoft should really look into this! These are very expensive devices and  thus should simply work.

    Because while this helps me at home, now when i'm trying to connect somewhere else, I will probably need to manually switch to auto or 2.4 GHz when on the road.

    **Update:**After restart the speed caps at ~120 Mbps again. And the only way to get it to have high download speeds once more is to switch between any of the modes found under: Device Manager > Marvel AVASTAR .... > Advanced > Band.

    So it seems that the setting itself doesn't matter (in my case), but when switching modes something happens that allows the speed to go up temporarily.

    Still waiting for a fix Microsoft!
