Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

Thanks,

Deepak

    @brad

I just used the support.microsoft.com link to contact support about the bulging screen. The agent came on and asked for information, then had me video the bulging with the serial number included. I uploaded the video, and the rest is done. They are sending out a replacement for my SP4. It's been 5 years of life...

Did they replace it free of charge or did you have to pay for it? I have 2 computers that are now bulging.

For info, I have the same issue, and was just chatting to an online agent.

They said to me that the Surface Pro 4 was discontinued for support on the 3rd of this month (!), so no spare parts / replacement devices anymore, so there was nothing they could do.

But they also said that I probably shouldn't use it unless I really have to, as the battery could leak or explode, and to try and keep it in a cool place, and to avoid using it with the power supply attached (which is problematic, as the device also suffers from the other SP4 problem whereby it completely discharges itself in a few days, even when it's completely turned off!).

Sounds like the device is dead... Shame, as it was an expensive purchase. Not sure I'll be buying another one either.

Mine is also functional. There are videos on how to replace the battery, but I no longer feel techie enough to give it a shot. Maybe when it starts to break down and I have moved everything back to the old Toshiba.

Just Google it to see if you want to try it.

    Wow,

You are lucky to get a Surface Pro that worked for 5 years.

I got 5 surface replacement in 5 years for various troubles including the peeled off screen due to expanded battery.

All surfaces sold in the market are technically faulty products. Major design flaw.

Now my new surface Pro replacement received 6 months back has refused to go beyond the start-up windows logo post last update.

Microsoft has clearly refused to serve since its out of 90 days warranty.

We need to take MS legally against this cheating business.

One can understand the time of wait wasted in getting service calls and further replacement receipt every year. Technically I wasted the value for 5 months of usage every year.

SURFACEPRO seems to be a subscription product with extremely expensive price tag, suggest one should buy 2 of them so that at least one would be working when you really desperately need to use it.
