Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

Thanks,

Deepak

It's the same with me, three weeks ago I did an update, and there was this little stain on the left side of the display, after that display has stuck out and today it broke. But the problem is that my laptop is exactly two years and three months old, which means that my warranty has expired. I'm going to wait until it doesn't explode...

that's how it goes. step by step.

I called Microsoft. Warranty expired. They replaced my unit. All I had to do was return the damaged device per instructions in a box they sent me.

I was told this is a result of the battery expanding.

They will ask for pictures of the damage and the serial number.

My issue was reaolved and I have received my replacement.

I had the same problem, but like you, my SP4 was out of warranty and Microsoft would not replace it without paying for the replacement. I told the CS rep that before I paid more money for a system I already had thousands invested in I would toss it and buy an HP. She called me back and said, and I quote, "you should toss it and buy an HP". So I did. Much happier with my HP Spectre.

Wow, I have the same problem. I'm an Architect and have to expose clients, colleagues, and consultants to my defective Microsoft laptop evey day - this is appealing. I am shocked by the quality. Thankfully everyone I meet with my laptop is also in awe given how much I paid.

I also was told the same thing on my defective battery/computer surface 4.  (July 2019) The extended warranty was mentioned to me by the customer service person who took my claim, but the warranty people flatly said no.  Oh, and they "communicate" with you via "email" after they tell you not to use the "defective" computer.  yeah right!  So, after consideration, I just bought a new i7 computer.  another $2,000!  A total rip-off I think, but I needed one for my business.  If anything goes wrong with this one, I'll be returning to Toshiba or Lenovo brands.

IF you are planning taking any legal action, or an attorney is opening a "class action suit" against Microsoft for this battery surface pro 4 issue, please include me.  I still have my computer (surface 4) and will keep it just incase legal action will be taken in the future.  If enough of us ban together, perhaps we can get just compensation.  Michigan.

A class action would be useful against a living breathing company. I suspect those in authority have given up the ghost.

They’re asleep at the wheel and the leaderless ship is heading for the rocks.

We better find a different ship to use.
