Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

Thanks,

Deepak

Nothing has changed in the months since the last post.  I just got off the phone with support where the first representative flatly said it was due to a defective battery that causes bulging.  I pointed out that said battery was sealed in the unit by MIcrosoft and they offered no other replacement solution other than the $450 out of warranty replacement.     I asked for a supervisor and after ten minutes was connected to one who stated that they extended the warranty regarding this to a three year period because of the defect.   I asked why Microsoft didn't notify its users of this and he stated it was a problem common to many other devices using the same battery.  I responded that most other companies offered recalls or were completely banned from flying on commercial flights.

Having invested thousands in the I7 with 16gb for intensive power bi and excel applications, I expect to use my device for longer than 3 years (2 months more now).

I fly each week utilizing my surface on the plane and am concerned with the known 3/4" bulge.  Microsofts answer is to simply brick the unit or pay 3/4 the price of a new generation to fix their known defect.   Microsoft could at least offer a good will gesture of a significant discount on the Surface 6, especially in light of the rumored October release of the next generation.

Even though I am a long time Microsoft enthusiast, this experience has left me no choice but to pursue another vendor for my next replacement.  I also am pursuing this with consumer advocates both locally and at the state level.

    Thanks for your comments.

Microsoft is a company which appears to be staffed by people from the past and like kodak have grown fat and lazy.

Next time we’ll look for fresh alternatives.

I agree. It's ridiculous, given the issues SP4 has had - flickering, bricked typed covers, battery drain, battery bulging. I'm an unpaid volunteer and do not work for Microsoft. If it were up to me, I'd replace everyone of these free of charge.

Its sad that they don't expect it to last longer than three years

We don't have a store within at least 125 miles. I am stuck with talking to someone on the phone if I can understand them. I am out of warranty.
