I have the power settings set to NOT restart when the power is plugged in and NOT to go into sleep mode.

Even with these settings the laptop restarts randomly. I'll be writing code and it restarts. Its random.

I have installed the updated Firmware and I am constantly checking to ensure that I have the latest Windows updates and it STILL has not resolved the random reboot issue.

Ironically, I found this article that addressed the original reported issue in August.

    https://borncity.com/win/2020/08/24/surface-laptop-3-fix-fr-sporadische-neustarts-wird-getestet/

At that time, they recommended signing up for the Microsoft Insider program.  I am going to take a chance and sign up for it.  This is beyond ridiculous as to how many people are having issues with AMD laptops.

I'll post the results if there are any changes.

I will for sure not only "not recommend" to buy it, but I will also recommend to "never buy" a Microsoft Laptop for sure.

At least if it's for serious work, but even for other things like just for Web and Video this thing is too overpriced and does not provide good quality.

I mean the list of failures is long and it's not about Windows 10 or something, my Desktop PC is working just fine!

    • random reboots with losing of open windows and therefore work
    • my wireless mouse was also randomly disconnecting every couple of hours (rumors say you can fix it somehow in some settings, in a 1500€ device lol. On my self-made Desktop it works just without any problems)
    • loud fans (my first device went back btw because the noise was a rattling clicking... lol)
    • advertising 8gb of ram and only 6 are usable (yeah well do I have really to research that Ryzens are taking a part of the Ram? I think not - if every other website as the Microsoft store and amazon are telling me it has 8gb. It's NOT MENTIONED ANYWHERE: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/surface-laptop-3/8vfggh1r94tm?activetab=techspecs&SilentAuth=1&wa=wsignin1.0)

Just really frustrated and disappointed. Another thing is that the problem seems to show up only on the AMD Versions. Then why the heck you're not calling those devices back and give everyone the intel version? I even asked during my first replacement if I can have the Intel Version, even with giving them more money - no it has to be the same Version.

Like I said: will talk out Microsoft Devices for everyone I know and recommend other products

    Thanks,

This has already been done twice and still has not corrected the issue.

I can confirm the issue is still 100% ongoing too! Laptop restarts randomly and the touchscreen becomes irresponsive after a while. I sometimes cannot even project it onto a wireless screen which works fine with any other device. When I leave the laptop to sleep, I lose my work by the time come back because again it restarts on its own.

It's just very sad how they have handled the situation. Microsoft is a trillion dollar company! Come on, if you sell a defective product just have the honesty and dignity of accepting it and look for a resolution! And they can just simply mark an answer as accepted while the issue still persists and users complain about it.

It's just such a shame, especially during a pandemic!
