I have the power settings set to NOT restart when the power is plugged in and NOT to go into sleep mode.

Even with these settings the laptop restarts randomly. I'll be writing code and it restarts. Its random.

    Greg,

After experiencing a swollen battery with my Microsoft Surface Book, I had a choice to get a replacement that I would have had to pay $600 for (with a 90 day guarantee) or just buy a new computer.  I chose to buy a Surface Laptop 3 because I liked my last Surface and upon configuring my BRAND new Surface, I immediately had the same issue (random reboots).  The computer seem to be missing a lot of patches and SEEMED to be more stable after I installed all the updates, but alas, that is not the case.  I have only had my computer a few weeks and it still reboots at random and the ONLY application I am using at the time is Edge. Since I JUST set up this new computer, I do NOT want to go through the trouble of setting up another and would be happy to try and find a fix, but I can't even get logged on long enough to TRY the fix.  Here is what I am getting when I try and access the site to download the update:

    Request Id: c2b5d279-beaf-4fee-9391-3ef594d20000

    Correlation Id: 3396d491-0a91-4bc7-9818-de89f302a3a5

    Timestamp: 2020-09-10T00:29:24Z

Message: AADSTS50196: The server terminated an operation because it encountered a client request loop. Please contact your app vendor.

    Please help!

    Thank you

Thank you for reporting the issue. We have improved device stability with an update that is currently available through our Windows Insider Program.

To join the Windows Insider Program go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program and select Get Started. You will need to provide a Microsoft Account and when prompted choose Release Preview (learn more about Insider channels). Selecting Release Preview will keep you on the current public release of Windows but provide you the latest Surface updates before they are more broadly available. You can always go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program to opt out of receiving preview updates.

This fix will be generally available through Windows Update as soon as it completes our quality testing.

    Thanks,

    Greg

Hi Greg, thank you for the reply. Amazon has replaced my device and it is now perfectly fine. This poins to the fact that 1st laptop had hardware problems.

    Hi JasonSanterre,

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Surface Community. We thank you for taking advantage on our new Surface Laptop 3. We're sorry to hear with regards on your concern. Definitely, this is not the experience that we want you to have. We do have some few questions to further isolate the issue.

If this is a new device, kindly make sure that you have fully run the manual updates on it.

If everything is updated, what is the current OS version and build of it?

Have you installed any 3rd party applications recently?

Is this happening on the first place after you set it up?

Looking forward on your response. Please keep us posted.

    Regards,

    Edd
