Surface Book w/ new Dock. Dock fails after a time and requires reboot of Surface Book.

I've got a new Dock connected to a Surface Book.  The dock has several USB devices connected, a LAN Ethernet cable, and a DP monitor.  The dock works fine for a time after boot; however, connectivity to the dock begins to bounce.  The USB devices and monitor disconnect/reconnect rapidly.  Removing and reapplying power to the dock has no positive effect.  Disconnecting/reconnecting the connector from the surface also has no positive effect.  The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book.  After a reboot the dock functions as expected for a time, and then the process starts all over.

All of the Windows updates have been applied.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    I've had the new dock up for a little over 8 hours at work. I haven't run across any charging issues when the screen is detached and re-attached.

    I did hear the device disconnect and re-connect chime a few times throughout the day but my keyboard and mouse were still working fine. However, I did take the keyboard and mouse out and connected directly to the laptop to see if the chimes stopped. The chimes stopped. 

    I have everything plugged into the back of the dock. Mouse, Keyboard, (2) Mini display port adapters, and a network patch cable.

    My good dock just had a glitch yesterday where one of the video outputs stopped working. Unplugging from one and into the other did work, hopefully this will be fixed with a reboot.

    These docks are a weak link in an otherwise very nice hardware platform, hopefully most of these issues can be resolved with driver updates.

    Is there any unique markings on either the device or the packaging that would indicate when they were possibly shipped?

    I don't seeing anything on my docks to indicate that. The only unique number than serial, mac, etc. is there is something next to the bar code sticker on the box that says "LOT NO:" The first dock I bought reads, "lot no: 1543" whereas the new dock I bought reads, "lot no: 1541" 

    Maybe that means the shipment lot the docks were included in. I was banking on the possibility that the faulty docks came from the first batches of docks that shipped and maybe docks from a newer batch were good.

    I've also purchased a new dock.  This one is just getting worse.  I have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, external hard drive, speakers, and ethernet connected and the only device that doesn't periodically crash and require a reboot is the speakers.

    I too have purchased another dock to test against. The original dock I purchased from the MS mall kiosk so they might have the original batches of docks from the first shipment. This second dock I purchased from the brick and motar MS store, so I'm hoping they kept their inventory more fresh, although they didn't know how long those docks were sitting there.

    I'll test and keep everyone posted.
