I have this problem on one of my older laptops too. For the most part I like my Office 365 sub it enables my wife and my three kids and I to each have a separate account that works quite well as we all have separate devices. My "solution" is to load Win 10 LTSB (if you are fortunate enough to be part of a Enterprise licence) it is simply the best version of Windows I've ever used. You get lean and fast Windows with all the essential security but none of the non-essential crap/bloatware and problem causing "updates" it's as stable as a rock.
what is windows shell experience and why do i get a window telling me to ask for permission to use it
When I log in, a window opens on my desktop with "Microsoft family features" in the heading, telling me to ask for permission to use "Windows Shell Experience". My account is the adult account in my family and there should not be any Microsoft family restrictions on my account. Why am I getting this window?
Windows for business | Windows Server | Performance | Windows desktop and shell experience

2018-07-25T08:31:51+00:00 Apparently, there is something corrupted in the family group settings stored away on the Microsoft servers. Having cleared the family settings locally does NOT alleviate the problem, as it 're-downloads itself' again immediately upon a log-in into any Microsoft account stored on the system.
I have a hunch that this may be solved ONLY by completely deleting and recreating one's family group and its settings at account.microsoft.com
Has anyone tried this approach?

2018-07-23T15:10:23+00:00 Hello Microsoft.
I can see from this post that you messed up everyone's computers with your update on 8JUN2018. You screwed both of mine. Here is the list of how your update ruined both my smoothly operating computers:
- One drive disconnects and cannot be reconnected. (Called in and had the system reset Windows (saving profiles), had this done twice, and still disconnected and disappeared a few days later. You cannot reconnect even when downloading to reinstall.)
- All graphics drivers fail and the screen's resolution is changed and cannot be corrected.
- Sticky notes error - I don't have permission
- Windows Shell Experience - don't have permission
This happened to both of my computers (desktop and laptop) and affected everyone in the family's profile.
I am on vacation right now, and it is a sunny day. I have lots to do. However, I am trying to fix my computers which your update messed up royally. As I can see here, you are at a loss to fix any of the problems you have created. And I am paying $125 bucks a year for this privilege.
Please own this problem you have created and fix it now. Please send us a patch and fix it.
I have just finished resetting windows (clean install and profile rebuild) on my laptop which was not fun, only to have the errors come up. Only time will tell if one drive disconnects and the graphics driver is corrupted.
Please do something about this.
Thank you,
Jeff
