The pictures below started popping up on our PCs. and the PC was using not part of any domain. I am not a computer person and also have this problem. I clicked into the Security Alert message's "View Certificate" button and saw that the certificate is issued to "outlook.com" while the security message said the internet address "outlook.office365.com" has security concern. That to me essentially is a Microsoft mess up by using Peter's credential to do business as Paul.

I think that I started to have this pop up issue around when the new certificate became effective, that was 7/25/2022.

As to some PCs/Macs don't have the issue maybe because they already have the correct security certificate installed on their computers. There is no setting in my hotmail setup for me to change in Outlook, so so far I am dealing with it by clicking ok on the box everyday.

Anyone tried checking on their root certificates yet? I saw a reddit post from July-ish timeframe with someone saying they experienced the same popups and root cert update resolved it. This was the article they linked to, but I haven't had time to try it out for myself.

I also turned on CAPI2 logging for everyone to see if that gives an indication as to what is going on. Hopefully it captures something.

I've been getting these random 'security alert' prompts about the outlook.office365.com certificate for several weeks. So have random clients, even though all clients are configured the exact same way.

We're located on the east coast of Canada.

Microsoft??? What's up?

This is the feedback from Microsoft Engineers; however, I would be hesitant to do this since it is exceptionally inconvenient especially for users with larger profiles on a desktop client to rebuild the cache, but moreover the productivity delay as the search index for outlook is rebuilt.

• Turn off modern authentication in the admin portal and turn it back on.
• You can navigate to the setting from Admin center > Settings > Org settings > Modern auth > Turn it OFF and back ON.
• Then lastly, you create a new outlook profile.

I'm curious if this is isolated or occurring more in Microsoft Canadian data centers or if this is being seen for tenants hosted in US and Canadian Data centers.

We are in Canada East, similar to another use.

"Me Too" - Canada Central. This started on my users with iPhones and slowly moved over to Windows 10/11 PC's on a domain and not using BitDefender. On or off the domain and on or off VPN. My first thoughts were of Network issues / packet loss but cannot prove any of it as our Azure is handled further up the "umbrella cane". We are, for the most part Windows 10 running Outlook Desktop App with 365 subscription and all mobile devices are Apple. I have only seen the issue on a handful of both devices, mine included, we have a handful of Windows 11 PCs and have seen it appear here as well. As I am writing this I just got it on my iPhone while using the M$ Authenticator App. I have not seen it on my iPhone until now and also do not use the Outlook App [installed it last week, but it is not configured] I use the Mail App. This would lead me to believe that this would be M$ related. with a side of Network issue [switching from Cell Data to Wi-Fi]. No issue reaching the CLR from my PC or iPhone. Azure was hybrid we but have moved to all cloud based about 2 years ago. MX record looks good in DIG.

I will admit I have left it alone over the past few weeks but now we are seeing an increase of users getting this error and I felt some reaching out was needed. I was surprised to see so many people reporting the same thing, all with seemingly different scenarios, devices, and network setups. The only constant is this bloody error!

Is M$ suggesting the above "solution" be applied to all users experiencing the issue or all users?

Adding another "us too" comment. Issue does not seem particularly wide-spread as of yet but users and some of our staff have reported the same as above. Reporters have been seeing it associated with outlook 365 desktop client but some have seen it also on personal PCs. All anecdotal so far with not much other info. Is there any officially recognized notice of this from MS or is it just multiple people reporting on their own accord?

We had the same issue happened in our enterprise environment; it had been reported by 5 users already. I hope we can get the solution for this.
