Managing personal Outlook.com account settings, security, and privacy
I’m very sorry to hear that your email account has been compromised and changed to a language you cannot understand.
Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas only.
Please do not pay the person demanding money, and do not share your password or verification codes. Use Microsoft’s official hacked-account recovery process to recover and secure the account.
If you can still sign in, please:
- Scan your device for malware, then change your Microsoft account password.
- Review your recent sign-in activity, security information, forwarding, automatic replies, and inbox rules, and remove anything you do not recognize.
- In Outlook.com, open Settings > General > Language and time, choose English, select Rename default folders so their names match the specified language, and save.
- Check Deleted Items and select Recover items deleted from this folder to restore any recoverable emails.
If you cannot sign in, use Microsoft’s Sign-in Helper or account recovery form and provide as much accurate account information as possible.
Please use only official Microsoft recovery and support channels.
