    Hi, @Rory Johnston

When you sign in to your Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com/services does the subscription show as active there?

If active, please try these steps if you haven’t already:

    • Make sure you're signed in with the same Microsoft account that the subscription is linked to.
    • Then, open any Office app (like Word or Excel), go to File > Account, and click "Update License" to refresh your license status.

    If issue still persists:

Before installing, it’s a good idea to uninstall all existing versions of Office to avoid conflicts.

    Here’s how:

    • Open the Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    • Look for any version of Microsoft Office or Office apps, right-click, then choose Uninstall. Please uninstall all Office apps.
    • Once that’s done, restart your computer just to be safe.

    Then, to reinstall Microsoft Office:

    • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services
    • Sign in using the same Microsoft account linked to your license.
    • Find your Microsoft 365 Subscription and click the "Install".
    • That will download the installer for the Office apps, just run it and follow the steps.

If anything’s unclear or the "Install" option still doesn’t show, feel free to let me know. I’ll be happy to walk you through it!

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Thanks!

For Microsoft 365 for home on Windows, activation is done by signing in with the Microsoft account that was used to buy the subscription. No activation code is normally required.

    1. Open any Office app such as Word.
    2. If prompted, sign in with the Microsoft account used for the purchase.
    3. If the Activation wizard appears, follow the prompts.
    4. In the app, go to File > Account and confirm the signed-in account is the one tied to the purchase.
    5. Check whether the subscription appears on the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page.

If Office was preinstalled on a new Windows device, a trial may be installed instead. In that case, sign in with the purchasing account, or choose the option to buy, add Microsoft 365 to an existing subscription, or redeem a product key if applicable.

To chat with support, use Microsoft Support:

    1. Go to Contact Microsoft Support.
    2. Sign in.
    3. Select Microsoft 365 and Get home support.
    4. Type Chat with an agent or billing.
    5. Select Contact support and follow the prompts to connect to a live agent or request a call back.

If activation still fails, guided support is also available in the browser for Office activation issues.
