How do I switch my Office 365 Family to Classic, without Co-Pilot?

To switch from Microsoft 365 Family to a plan without Copilot, switch to Microsoft 365 Family Classic as a plan with fewer features:

1. Go to Subscriptions and sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the subscription.
2. Find the current Microsoft 365 Family subscription and select Manage.
3. Select Cancel subscription.
4. On the Cancel page, choose Microsoft 365 Family Classic or another lower-feature plan if that option is shown.
5. Follow the prompts to complete the switch.

Important details:

• The current subscription usually stays active until it expires.
• The Classic plan typically takes effect at the next renewal, not immediately.
• The new plan is not charged until renewal into that plan.
• If switching between home subscriptions other than Microsoft 365 Basic, reinstalling the desktop apps is not required.
• If the subscription was purchased through a third-party billing partner such as Apple App Store, Google Play, or certain retail partners, plan switching may need to be handled through that billing partner instead.
• If the Classic option does not appear, Microsoft Support can help through Contact Support.

If the goal is only to stop using Copilot in the apps, Copilot can also be turned off in supported Microsoft 365 apps by clearing the Enable Copilot checkbox in the app. That disables Copilot in that app, but does not change the subscription.
