Make greeting cards

Publisher can still be used to make greeting cards until October 2026, and it supports both personal photos and picture-based artwork.

A simple way to create one:

1. Open Publisher.
2. Go to File > New.
3. Choose a card template:
   • Built-in > Greeting Cards, or
   • search for a card template from the Start page.
4. Select the template and click Create.
5. Before opening or after opening the card, customize the design:
   • On Page Design, change the color scheme.
   • On Page Design > Fonts, change the font scheme.
   • On Page Design > Size, change the page size if needed.
6. Add personal photos from the laptop:
   • To replace a placeholder image, right-click the picture and select Change Picture > Change Picture.
   • Browse to pictures on the computer and insert them.
   • To add a new photo, go to Insert > Pictures, choose the image, and click Insert.
7. Add picture-style artwork:
   • In Microsoft 365, traditional clip art is no longer available.
   • Instead, use Insert > Pictures > Stock Images for items such as icons, stickers, illustrations, and cartoon people.
   • Another option is Insert > Online Pictures, search for an image, filter by Type for Clipart, then insert it.
8. Edit the text by clicking in the text boxes and replacing the sample wording.
9. When finished, use File > Print to print at home, or File > Export for PDF or other print options.

Because Publisher is being retired after October 2026, Word is also a practical option for future greeting cards. Open Word > File > New, search for card, choose a template, and create the card there.
