I have an New outlook account that doesn't show the Teams icon to schedule meetings in the calendar. I have bought the Teams license recently and am not sure why it doesn't show up. So, I want to create a calendar event and when I open it both in the new outlook or in the teams calendar, it does not allow me to create a teams meeting. Thank you for your help!

Hello Maggie Joao,

To help me better understand the account and license configuration, could you please confirm the following?

  • Are New Outlook and Microsoft Teams signed in with the same email address?
  • Is the affected account a Microsoft 365 Business or work or school account, Outlook.com, Hotmail, Gmail, or another account type?
  • What is the exact name of the Teams license you recently purchased?
  • Has the license been assigned directly to the affected user in the Microsoft 365 admin center?
  • Could you please provide a screenshot of the event creation window in both New Outlook and the Teams calendar, showing the available options?

Please note that scheduling Teams meetings from Outlook is supported for Microsoft 365 Business Exchange accounts. Personal Microsoft accounts and POP or IMAP accounts, such as Gmail, Yahoo, and iCloud, are not supported for this integration.

Microsoft Teams is integrated directly into New Outlook, so there is no separate Teams add-in to install. New Outlook and Teams must be signed in with the same supported work or school account.

If the correct license has already been assigned, please sign out of both New Outlook and Teams, close New Outlook completely, and quit Teams from the taskbar. Then, open Teams first and sign in with the licensed account. After that, open New Outlook and sign in with the same account before creating a new calendar event.

You can also go to New Outlook > Settings > Calendar > Events and invitations, enable "Add online meeting to all meetings" and select Microsoft Teams as the provider if that option is available.

Please share the requested account and license information, along with the screenshots if possible. This will help me understand what is currently displayed on your side and determine whether the issue is related to the account type, license assignment, or the integration between Outlook and Teams.

Kind regards,

In new Outlook, there is no separate Teams add-in to install. The Teams meeting option is built into the event window as a toggle.

The most common reasons it does not appear are:

    1. The account type is not supported
      • Scheduling Teams meetings in Outlook is only available for Microsoft 365 Business Exchange accounts.
      • Personal accounts are not supported for creating Teams meetings from Outlook.
      • POP/IMAP accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, and similar providers are not supported.
    2. Outlook and Teams are not signed in with the same work or school account
      • In new Outlook, the Teams toggle appears only when both apps use the same work or school account.
    3. The new Teams client is required
      • New Outlook requires the new Teams client for the built-in Teams meeting integration.
    4. Integration needs to be reinitialized
      • If the account is supported and the toggle is still missing:
        1. Close Outlook.
        2. Right-click the Teams icon in the toolbar and select Quit Teams.
        3. Start Teams and sign in.
        4. Start Outlook.

To schedule a meeting once it is available in new Outlook:

    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Select Calendar.
    3. Select New event.
    4. Turn on the Teams meeting toggle next to Title.
    5. Add meeting details and attendees.
    6. Select Send.

If the account in new Outlook is a personal, POP, or IMAP account, buying Teams alone does not make the Outlook Teams option appear. The Outlook integration requires a supported Microsoft 365 Business Exchange work account.
