Account Deleted After Being Hacked – Lost All Digital Purchases & Games

My Microsoft account was hacked despite having Microsoft Authenticator (2FA) enabled. After contacting Microsoft Support and correctly answering all identity verification questions, Microsoft completely closed and deleted my account instead of restoring access. Support has since ignored all email communications, and there is no accessible way on the site to reach a live representative for resolution.

This sudden deletion has resulted in the total loss of my business files, account data, software licenses, and paid applications.

I am wondering is there a way to escalate this? Why did this happen (how did they bypass 2-factor (which I barely ever open))? Did Microsoft get hacked and then drop this on me?

This is infuriating, especially since I own microsoft surface laptop along with a bunch of their products and have always been a supporter for this to happen. I use my microsoft account for barely anythign except uni work.

    Hi ,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out.

I’m very sorry this happened. Please note that this is a public user-to-user community. No one here has access to accounts, files, sign-in records, or support cases, and cannot restore or escalate an account ourselves.

Two-factor authentication greatly improves security, but it is not impossible to bypass. Possible methods include a stolen browser session, phishing, malware, a compromised recovery method, or an already authenticated device. These are only possibilities, this incident alone does not prove that Microsoft was hacked. Only Microsoft’s security team can determine what happened. However, a computer scan with Windows Security and changing all the other accounts' passwords after compromising an account are recommended.

If the account is pending closure, try signing in:

    https://account.microsoft.com/

Normally provides a 30- or 60-day reopening period. After permanent deletion, but the account cannot be reopened.

You can also try account recovery process:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/manage/how-to-recover-a-hacked-or-compromised-microsoft-account

If this was a university-provided account, please contact your university’s Microsoft 365 administrator immediately, as they may have separate recovery or data-retention options.

Please do not post your email address, case number, or verification details publicly.
