Try an in private browser window and see if you are allowed to access your account at https://account.microsoft.com . Terminology is a bit different between browsers. Google Chrome uses incognito window to mean the same thing. To open such a window, press Ctrl+Shift+N (or Command+Shift+N on a Mac).

    Hi James Stafford,

Based on the information provided, the message"Ooops, something went wrong" is quite general and can occur for several reasons, such as a temporary authentication issue, network connectivity problem, or a device-specific sign-in configuration issue.

To help narrow down the issue, could you please provide a bit more information:

    • Are you able to sign in successfully at Microsoft Account using a web browser?
    • Does the issue occur during Windows setup, when signing in to Windows, Microsoft 365 apps, or the Microsoft Store?
    • Are you seeing any specific error code or additional message along with "Ooops, something went wrong"?
    • If possible, please share a screenshot with any personal information removed.

In the meantime, you may also want to try:

    1. Verifying that the laptop has a stable internet connection.
    2. Checking that the device date, time, and time zone are correct.
    3. Restarting the device and attempting the sign-in again.
    4. Testing on a different network, such as a mobile hotspot, to rule out a network-related issue.

Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.
