I bought this product thinking it is a lifetime purchase. But I am paying $10.59 a month. Why?

Office Home & Business 2021 is a one-time purchase, not a monthly subscription. A $10.59 monthly charge usually means a separate Microsoft 365 subscription is also active on the account.

Check Services & subscriptions in the Microsoft account used for Office and see whether both of these appear:

    1. Office Home & Business 2021
    2. A Microsoft 365 subscription

If a Microsoft 365 subscription is listed, that is the source of the monthly charge and it can be canceled there.

Also, on Mac, Office apps downloaded from the Mac App Store require a Microsoft 365 subscription to create and edit documents. One-time Office licenses such as Office 2021 are not compatible with Mac App Store versions of the apps. Those licenses only work with Office apps downloaded directly from Microsoft.

If the apps came from the Mac App Store, that can explain why a subscription charge appeared even though Office Home & Business 2021 was purchased.

Office Home & Business 2021 is a one-time payment version of Office, if that is the licence you have, you should not need to pay a subscription for the Microsoft 365 version of Office.

Log into your Microsoft account on this link.

    https://account.microsoft.com/services/

Do you find both your Office Home & Business 2021 licence and a current Microsoft 365 subscription listed there?

If so, you should be able to uninstall Microsoft 365 from your PC, then download and install Office Home & Business 2021 onto your PC, and ensure that is working correctly, you should then be able to cancel the Microsoft 365 on your account online.
