How to add a phone number to my personal account?

I have been trying for weeks but it has not worked at all. Whenever I try redeeming points now, it gets me the option to use my phone number to verify and shows an option to ‘add phone number’ that just redirects me to my dang Bing app to again ask me to redeem it.

Whenever I try everything and anything to add it, going into Microsoft account settings and even using customer support multiple times, nothing has really happened and it would be really helpful if someone could genuinely help. Like can someone get back to me and come with helpful advice. Since nothing appears in my Microsoft account settings, only giving an option to add an e-mail and not a phone number. I don’t know why this is happening. Please help.

Hello,

For security reasons, Microsoft no longer allows users to add a phone number to a Microsoft account as an alias or for identity verification. This option was removed earlier this year.

Microsoft now recommends using an authenticator app, an email address, or a passkey to verify your identity.

Regarding the Bing rewards redemption issue, do you see this screen when trying to redeem your Microsoft Rewards points?

Open an incognito tab on any web browser and sign in with your Microsoft account here-
https://rewards.bing.com/
Select the Gift card, and click Redeem now.
If you see the above screen that says " Verify your account," - open the Bing app on your Mobile device.
Click the camera icon on the search bar and scan the QR to verify it.
Enter the code to successfully redeem your rewards.

(OR) If you have the Bing app installed on your device, select your profile picture in the top-right corner of the page, click Microsoft Rewards, and redeem reward points there.
