Issues with MS Bookings and adding custom questions

Somehow there's no clear guidance I can find anywhere on this - a MS Booking page should be able to require folks to answer mandatory questions with their booking request.

Multiple MS resources say its possible, including Copilot, but their instructions don't account for a significant UI change mid this year, it seems. Below is what that interface looks like in Q3 2026- there is no left pane any longer that allows you to select and modify services. If you go into a booking meeting type, the settings (and advanced settings within) do not have options for this tool either (see images below).

Was Microsoft STUPID enough to remove that basic functionality and not update their resources to reflect that? Maybe. Actually, probably is more accurate. I digress...

How, as of SEPTEMBER 2026, can someone configure a booking page to have these basic mandatory questions? And, if its still a feature, why have you made it so hard to find or configure? If it was removed; why?

Main page, as of today:bookings new ui

Meeting type settings:

Meeting settings 1

settings continued:

Meeting settings 2

settings end:

Meeting settings 3

Also the settings cog button does not have configuration options for this either in any capacity.

Hola John,

The feature hasn’t been removed from Microsoft Bookings, but the screenshots you posted show that you’re using the Personal booking page experience, not a Shared booking page. That distinction is the reason you can’t find the custom-question settings. Microsoft currently treats these as two separate Booking experiences.

Personal Bookings uses meeting types and is intended for an individual’s availability.

Shared Bookings uses services and supports more advanced configuration, including custom and required questions.

Microsoft’s current overview explains that split here.

The custom-question feature is still available in Shared Bookings. Microsoft’s documented path is: Bookings > Shared booking pages > select your booking page > Services > select or create a service > Custom fields.

From there, you can add a custom question and mark it Required. If it’s required, the customer can’t complete the booking until they answer it. Microsoft documents that here.

I agree that the confusion is understandable because much of the Microsoft documentation still refers broadly to “Microsoft Bookings.”

Thanks,

James
