Hi Microsoft Community,
I am posting this because I have been trying to resolve an issue with my Microsoft 365 Developer tenant for almost three months, and I am still unable to access my account.
My Global Administrator account was blocked/disabled, and I have been unable to sign in to the Microsoft 365 tenant. I am also unable to access Microsoft Entra ID, so I cannot perform the administrative actions required to re-enable or recover the account myself.
The important part is that I am the only Global Administrator in the tenant. There is no second administrator who can unlock the account.
I initially contacted Microsoft Support and opened a support case. Since then, the case has repeatedly been moved between different teams:
- Microsoft 365 Support
- Endpoint Security / Microsoft Defender
- Azure/Identity
- Microsoft 365 Data Protection
- Entra/Identity support
Each team reviews the issue and then tells me that it belongs to another team. Eventually, another case is created or the existing case is marked as a duplicate, and then I stop receiving updates.
One of the Microsoft teams investigated the sign-in logs and identified the error:
AADSTS50057 – User account is disabled.
So Microsoft has already identified the reason why the account cannot authenticate. I have also confirmed that MFA is configured and available on the account.
I have provided screenshots, tenant information, the affected account details, and other information requested by support. I have also participated in calls with Microsoft Support when requested.
However, I still cannot access my account.
The most recent active case is:
2609010040001383
The case has again been escalated/transferred, but I have not received a meaningful resolution.
What is particularly frustrating is that every time I contact Microsoft, I seem to go through the same process:
Open ticket → provide information → ticket transferred to another department → no update → ticket becomes inactive → open/contact support again → new ticket → repeat.
It has now been almost three months.
I understand that account recovery and Global Administrator issues require additional security verification, and I am willing to provide whatever verification is necessary. However, I would like to understand:
- Why is Microsoft unable to restore access when the account status/error has already been identified?
- Which Microsoft team is actually responsible for recovering a sole Global Administrator account that is disabled?
- Is there a specific backend recovery process for a Microsoft 365 Developer tenant when the only Global Administrator is locked out?
- Why are my support cases repeatedly being transferred between departments instead of being resolved?
- Is there a way to have this case escalated to the appropriate engineering/identity team rather than opening another ticket?
I also have important project files stored in OneDrive associated with this tenant, so regaining access is important to me.
I am not looking for another generic password-reset or MFA guide. I have already gone through the available recovery options and I am the only Global Administrator.
I would really appreciate guidance from someone familiar with Microsoft 365 Developer tenants, Microsoft Entra ID account recovery, and sole Global Administrator lockouts.
If anyone from Microsoft Support is able to look into case 2609010040001383, I would greatly appreciate it.
