My old email address was hacked so I change it in my profile but when I log in it shows up as the original email address when I first opened the account and I cannot find it anywhere in my profile to change does anyone know how to change the original email address

Hello,

If you see the 'Old email address' to verify your identity, you can replace it here by signing in to your account on the Security Settings page of your Microsoft account.

However, you need another verification method to sign in to the security settings page.

If you signed in, add a new way to sign in to your account first.

Then remove the old email address used for verification.

If you no longer have any other methods to verify your identity, you will have to replace the Security Information.

Select "I don't have any of these' and follow the prompts to replace the Security information.

Note - If you remove all of your previous security information and replace it with something new, your account will be put into a restricted state for 30 days.

The original address shown during sign-in is usually an alias on the Microsoft account.

To change it:

Go to Edit account info: https://account.live.com/names/manage
Sign in to the Microsoft account.
Check the email addresses listed under aliases.
If the old address is still there, select Remove next to that address.
If the address wanted for sign-in is not listed, select Add email and add the new address first.
If the new address is unverified, select Verify next to it and then Send email.

Important details:

Any alias on the account can be used to sign in to Microsoft services.
Aliases share the same password, contacts, subscriptions, storage, and settings.
Verification codes sent by email can only be sent to the primary alias or another email added as a way to verify sign-in.
If the old email was hacked, secure that email account and review Microsoft account recovery options if there are signs the Microsoft account was also compromised.
If the old address does not appear in alias management but still appears during verification or sign-in, use the sign-in helper or contact Microsoft Support.
Support agents cannot send password reset links or directly change account details.

If the Microsoft account may have been compromised:

Run a full malware scan on the PC first.
Change or reset the Microsoft account password.
Review account settings such as connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies.
Use the hacked-account recovery flow if needed.
