I need to remove 2 old versions of Office 365, one from an old personal email address, and one from a previous employer.

    Hello

In order for anyone to give you specific and relevant instructions, please make sure you provide the following information:

Is this macOS, or Windows 11?

Where do you see them? In the Microsoft 365 apps themselves, or on the OS level?

Feel free to share a screenshot if that's easier than describing. But this information is important so that i don't end up giving you instructions that are not relevant.

To remove the old accounts, handle both the Outlook account entry and any old work connection in Windows.

    1. In classic Outlook for Windows, go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
    2. On the Email tab, select the old personal account or former employer account, then select Remove.
    3. Confirm the warning. This removes the account from Outlook and deletes only the offline cached content stored on the computer for that account.
    4. If Outlook will not let the account be removed because it is tied to the current profile or data file, create a new profile:
      • Go to File > Account Settings > Change Profile
      • Restart Outlook
      • Select Options > New and create a new profile
      • After Outlook starts with the new profile, remove the old profile from File > Account Settings > Manage Profiles
    5. If the former employer account is still connected to Windows, open Windows Settings > Accounts > Access work or school, select the old organization account, and Disconnect it.
    6. Restart the computer.

If the goal is also to remove the old Microsoft 365 apps installation from the PC, uninstall Microsoft 365 after backing up anything needed. Uninstalling Microsoft 365 removes the apps, but does not remove files such as documents or workbooks.

For a Microsoft Store installation, these PowerShell steps are available. Warning: this removes the Microsoft 365 app package from the PC.

    1. Right-click Start and select Windows PowerShell (Run as Administrator).
    2. Run: Get-AppxPackage -name “Microsoft.Office.Desktop” | Remove-AppxPackage
    3. Wait until the command completes.
    4. Verify removal by running: Get-AppxPackage -name “Microsoft.Office.Desktop”
    5. If only a command prompt appears with no additional information, Microsoft 365 was removed.

If the old personal and work account use the same email address and the sign-in prompt keeps asking “Which account do you want to use?”, the supported fix is to rename the personal Microsoft account by changing its primary alias, or contact the organization so they remove the work/school account conflict.
