Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Hi Lou,
To help me better understand the situation, kindly provide additional details:
- Are all incoming emails failing to arrive, or only messages from specific senders?
- Do senders receive a bounce-back/NDR (non-delivery report)? If so, please share the full error message (with any personal information removed).
- Are you able to send emails successfully from the affected address?
In the meantime, you may try the following:
1/ Check your junk/spam folder
Sometimes legitimate emails are mistakenly filtered. Please check your Junk Email or Spam folder to see if any missing emails were sent there. If you find one, right-click it and mark it as "Not junk" to prevent this from happening again.
2/ Check your Inbox rules to see if incoming messages are being automatically moved, redirected, or deleted.
For guidance to check your Inbox rules, please refer to: Manage email messages by using rules in Outlook.
3/ Contact your IT admin:
If you're using Microsoft 365 work or school account, you may also want to contact your Microsoft 365 administrator for assistance.
Typically, they can:
- Run a message trace to determine whether the missing emails reached Exchange Online and, if so, what happened to them. For reference: Run a message trace and view the results in the Exchange admin center in Exchange Online | Microsoft Learn.
- If the message trace shows no record of the missing emails, it may indicate that the messages did not reach Exchange Online. In that case, the sender may need to investigate their mail system or any delivery errors they receive.
- Review mail flow rules to check whether any rules are redirecting, quarantining, or blocking incoming messages by going to Exchange Admin Center> Mail Flow > Rules.
- Review anti-spam and anti-phishing policies to see whether legitimate messages are being filtered. For reference: Use the Microsoft Defender portal to view anti-spam policy details.
- Contact Microsoft Support for further investigation if the issues persists after these checks.
I hope this information is helpful, let me know if you have any questions.
