OneDrive Functionality

Thanks for offering your help. When accessing my web based files on OneDrive, I am experiencing the following:

1. Fields/Labels do not filter
2. Search does not locate files by name
3. Nothing seems to sort the files/results provided (i.e. name, date, etc.)
4. Right clicking my PC files with solid green circle checkmark or cloud and selecting "Always keep on this device" does not change the connection status.
5. Ultimately, I want to remove my files from OneDrive and fully operate from my PC. However, I do not want to disturb the connection with OnDrive before I am sure I can access all files on my PC without needing connectivity.
6. And yes, I have utilized both MS self help and AI to research these concerns. And neither seem to offer viable solutions--I have tried them.
7. I do not want to study a manual or spend more hours researching. I just need quick resolution to my concerns above.

I do not recall being asked to sign up for this OneDrive feature. One day it was just there uploading my files. Wish I had been asked, then I could have avoided all of these issues by declining.

In my opinion it's a terrible idea to let the OneDrive app begin syncing your computer to your OneDrive automatically, from the very first minute that Windows is installed. It's an equally terrible idea to make it difficult for the average user to stop this from happening. (You have to know where to look and what to do.)

I get it that Microsoft wants us all to work in the cloud, and in the future most of our work will happen in the cloud. There are many advantages to cloud computing, and Google has shown how successful this can be. But to force this on unsuspecting users is ... terrible. For someone not familiar with syncing to the cloud, it can be real mayhem.

It is possible to stop cloud syncing, redo your folder structure, put all your files and folders back to where they should be, learn how syncing to the cloud works, and then set it up, if you so choose, in a way that works for you, not against you. But it's a lot to learn, a lot to do, and beyond the scope of a community forum post.

If the answer is not found in the self help documents, where does a paying customer get assistance to troubleshoot their issues/questions? I was informed and have used in the past, an ability to communicate with MS live agents when needed. Is this not available now?

It has not been available for many years. More than a billion customers all over the world use Microsoft software and services. It's not possible to talk to even a tiny fraction of that number of people. What paying customers like me and you are paying for is the right to use the software.

There are thousands of community forums, like Microsoft Q&A, plus Internet search engines, artificial intelligence (like my favorite ChatGPT, until it destroys the world), websites, community groups, books, courses, classes, knowledge family members and friends. And also professionals that you can hire.

Microsoft hires a limited number of outside contractors for people who insist on talking to someone, but these are not Microsoft employees and Microsoft isn't responsible for them.

Many of the same contractors you would be waiting in line for are here in Microsoft Q&A, plus other knowledgeable users.

This comment is for Bulldog. It is interesting you mention that live support has not been available for many years. Somehow I did receive live support around May of this year. And it was through a call back request in MS. This is what I am trying to access again if still available.
