How to Fix 0xC1900101 - 0x40017 error when updating from Windows 11 23h2 to 25h2

I tried installing windows updates a while ago with no luck so I used a restore point that I had made and stopped trying, I have recently tried again for the past couple days and every time I am receiving the 0xC1900101 - 0x40017 error code.

I have an Intel i7 11700k, Msi Z590 gaming edge wifi, 32gb hyperx ram, 4tb crucial nvme ssd as my main drive, a Gigabyte 3080 10gb, also I have installed FRST64 and Regbak (which I have used to make Reg backup).

Please uninstall the following software:

Backup the registry using Acelogix Regbak.

Run the fixlist below.

Download fixlist.txt

Save Fixlist.txt to the same folder as FRST64English.exe.

Close all programs.

Launch the Farbar Scanner tool and click "Fix".

Restart Windows if prompted.

Upload the output log file (FixLog.txt) in your next reply.

NOTE: The fixlist.txt script was written specifically for this user and for use on that particular machine. It is not recommended to run it on another machine, and don't run the same fixlist.txt more than once.

Try upgrading to 25H2 now. If the setup fails, we may need to remove another set of drivers.

I got the same issue again, between booting i got a cpu debug light this time. it disappeared on restart in case that has any value

update: I managed to turn on memory integrity after the fix that you gave by moving the LGVirHid.Sys driver to desktop which is where it will stay for now to prevent complications. I clean booted with no services running, unplugged non-essential devices and disabled all startup items. I tried to update again and got the same error code.

This fixlist.txt removes the remaining drivers. Please backup the registry using Regbak first.

Clean boot Windows using msconfig.exe. (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/experience/startup-boot/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows)

Verify if your BIOS version is the latest (2026) by opening msinfo32.exe.

Restart Windows and install 25H2.

Update: It worked, everything worked fine thank you very much for the help. I have a question, if i use the exe that i have to install is that okay or should I download a new exe for some of these apps we uninstalled?

Hi,

Will check the logs. Meanwhile, see if you can enable Memory Integrity. To do so, go to Windows Security → Device security → Core isolation details → Memory integrity. If the page lists any incompatible drivers, please post a screenshot.
